I-Search: Checklist
Topic Selection and 5 Interesting Questions. Choose a topic and develop at least 5 interesting questions to research about your topic.
Journal. Start keeping a journal of your research experiences.
Print Sources. Begin library research: look for books, encyclopedias, and other materials for research. As you research, you must: (a) Record bibliography information as you research and (b) Take notes of information as you research.
Internet Sources. You must have at least two print sources before you begin internet research. Begin internet research: look for websites and other sources of information for research on the internet. As you research, you must: (a) Record bibliography information as you research and (b) Take notes of information as you research.
Interview. Interview at least one person who knows more than you about your topic. During this process, you must: (a) Make a list of interview questions and (b) Conduct your interview and take notes.
Notes. Organize and review notes from research and interview(s).
Report. Follow the Writing Workshop Checklist to plan and finish your report.
Visual Aids. Collect and attach visual aids appropriate for your report.
Bibliography. Complete a bibliography for your report.
Title Page and Table of Contents. Make a Title Page and a Table of Contents for your Report.
Put it all together and turn it in! Put your organized notes, research journal, and final copy of report in your folder and turn it in!
