Books For Fantasy Lovers

By Fantasizer-the kid with her heads in the clouds.

Tired of boy heroes? Like books with strong-willed girls? Ready for something different? Well look through this list of my favorite books and tell me what you think.

jennyEllaEnchantedPIC: 1. Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine

In for some humor? Well (missing punctuation) read this book by Levine. This is a retelling of Cinderella, but in a more fictional way. Why is Ella so obedient and who is really her godmother? Read this book and find out!

jennySabrielPIC: 2. Sabriel, by Garth Nix

A sorcerer who banishes or traps dead people souls is imprisoned now. By using this troubled period of time, a dead being, that wishes to live again, steals bodies of the living and leaving death in its wake. If you love books with action and some romance (like me) then read this book.

jennyPharoah'sDaughterPIC: 3. Pharoah's Daughter, by Julius Lester

Ever heard of the tale about Moses? Well this is the retelling tale of it. In this book you can read from different points of views of Moses's three mothers who dislike each other until the end when they have to help Moses escape.

jennySpeakPIC: 4. Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson

Tough high school life? It can't be as horrible as Melanie's life. Living as an outcast isn't what you call great. Learn why and how she became an outcast now by reading this book.

jennySirenaPIC: 5. Sirena, by Donna Jo Napoli

Mermaids, nothing but cold-hearted beings who lure sailors to their death. Not in this book. Read about how a mermaid, Sirena, must choose between immortality or the man she loves. Choose wrong and she might see her loved one die.

jennyTheCarnivorousCarnivalPIC: 6. The Carnivorous Carnival, by Lemony Snicket

Why read this book? Not interesting enough? Well, how does three children trying to escape their dreaded fate of unfortunate events from the evil villain Count Olaf sound? Interested yet?

jennyTheBeastPic: 7. The Beast, by Donna Jo Napoli

"Once a upon a time..." Not! This book isn't like the fairy tale. In fact it tells from the beast's point of view rather than Bell's. The book talks about how the beast suffers through his tranformation and the origins of the story.

jennyTheLastVampirePIC: 8. The Last Vampire, by Christopher Pike

In for some adventure and horror? Read about how a five-thousand year old vampire fight against her maker (the first vampire) in this book now. The author descibes with a lot of blood and guts whenever the vampire kills someone so I think boys might enjoy this book as well.

jennyShadowSpinnerPIC: 9. Shadow Spinner, by Susan Fletcher

This is the sequel to Arabian Nights. For those who never heard of this book, Shadow Spinner, it's about a crippled girl who must help the queen find a tale that will please the king long enough so that he won't kill the queen.

jennyLadyofCh'aoPIC: 10. Lady of Ch'iao:Warrior of the South, A.D.531(Royal Diaries), by Laurence Yep

Easy with simple vocabulary, what more do you want? The book is about how a princess settles a feud between the Chinese and Hsien. Read her diary and be in her place.
