Create Your Own Reading List: Text Entry

Hello, Class!

Here's the plan for today's session in the library computer lab:

AIM: 

All students will create a new story, link it to their name page, and enter the text for their lead and ten reviews of their favorite reading materials. 

LESSON STEPS:

1. Log in on the 8th grade site. 
2. Go to your name page by clicking its hyperlink. 
3. Open a second window (ctrl + N).
4. Click on Stories in the editors menu.
5. Scroll down until you see the Create New Story button, then click it.
6. Type in the title of your story.  It should include your initials, plus something referring to your reading list so I can recognize it.
7. Enter the first paragraph of your text.  
8. Click the Post Changes button.  
9. When you get to the updated story, highlight the URL of that page in the address box and press ctrl + c to copy it.
10. Go to your second window, which should still be on your name page.  
11. Type a name for your story and then highlight it.
12. Click on the hyperlink button (it looks like a little globe) and paste the URL in the box (go to the box and press ctrl + v), then click OK.
13. You now have a link to your new story on your name page!  
14. Click the Edit this Page button and resume entering your text until you're finished.  Here is a link to an example of a Reading List:  Sample List
