Introduction

   There are many types of whales.  All kinds of whales have different names.  Some are named by how they act and how they look.  For example, the right whale, it is named the "right whale" because it have all the things that the whale hunters need, like oil and other things that are useful to the whale hunters.  All whales are different and interesting in different ways.

What do Baleen whales eat? 

Baleen whales eat small sea animals like shrimp, plankton, and small fishes.  Before they eat the food, they will make it easier to swallow.  They won't eat large sea animals because it is harder for them to swallow.

 

What whales are toothless?

There are many toothless whales.  These whales are(in families of whales): the Balaenidae, the Eschrichtidae, the Balaenopteridae, and the rorqual. 

 

How is each whale different?

Each whale is different because they have different features.  Like the humpback and the killer whale.  The killer whale is black and white and the humpback is gray, dark blue, or black.  The killer whale have a shorter body than the humpback.  The difference between the whales are their color, shape and sizes.

 

 

 

After how long does a whale need to come back up the water surface to take a breathe of fresh air?

Whales must come up to the surface every 3 to 20 minutes to breathe.  Some whales can stay in the water for one hour and then come up the surface to breathe.  Most whales need to come up to the surface of the water to breathe every 3 to 20 minutes.

 

 

 

How did each whale get their names?

Whales got their names by how they act and what they did.  The right whale got it's name when the whales hunters hunted them.  They thought that the whales that they caught should be named the right whale because the whale have a lot of baleen and whale oil.  These whales have a lot things that they needed, so they called them the right whale.

 

 

 

 

Closing

   I learned a lot about whales and I thought that it was very fascinating.  I was very fascinated when I was taking notes on it.  I liked all the whales, but most of all, I liked the humpback whale.  That's because they have a very interesting way of life.  I learned that they migrate south in the summer and north in the winter.  I also learned that calves are born in warm places like the Great Barrier Reef.  Learning about humpback whales taught me a lot.

      Today I searched at the SFPL site for information on my topic (spiders).  I didn't find any notes on that site, so I went to InfoTrac Kids to find notes.  I found a lot of notes on that site, so I started copying the information and pasted them on to my notes page.  On InfoTrac, there were a lot of information to chose from.  I didn't have to worry about not having enough information for  my topic.

      Today, I was searching for information for my notes page.  As soon as I got into SFPL, the page wouldn't work.  Then, I waited for a long, long, long, long time.  During that period of time, I was beginning  to get fustrated.  Then finally, the site worked and I got to take some notes on for my        I-search notes page.  Even if the SFPL site didn't work for a while, I still got some notes for my I-search notes page.

       Today, I worked with my partner on my I-Search notes.  I helped her on her notes.  We were half way through mine and didn't get to  finish it on time.  My other partner, didn't have time either, so we finish it during reading class and now we are finished.  I'm planning on sharing the things that I wrote in my I-Search Notes page with my two partners tomorrow or any other time when we visit the library to work on our I-Search project.

    Today, I was working with my partners on my I-Search Notes.  We got through one of my partner's because she didn't finish all her's last time.  Then, we finished mine and still didn't have a chance to get to finish my other partner's.

    Today we were helping my other partner on her I-Search and she was nearly done.  We had once again worked on her's for the whole period.  I think we will be able to get to mine and my other partner's.  I helped my other partner on her I-Search and it was about teen drug use and teen life.  I learned a lot from her I-Search notes.  I learned a lot on how teens wil act when they use drugs.

   Today, I was working on my I-Search.  I created a new story.  AT first, I can't link the story to my home page and Ms.Turnbull was helping my partner on linking her page and I overheard and listened to the directions that she was giving my partner.  Then, I linked the new story to my home page and pasted the example checklist to my homepage.  After that, I kept on losing my work.  Then, my partner helped fix it and I started on my I-Search Journal.   

3-25-03

   Today I went to the public library online and the server wasn't working that well.  Then, after a while, it started working and we countinued with our I-Search.  I didn't get any new notes because I can't post change the changes that I want to make.  When I can finally post change my changest, I didn't have time to get the notes for my I-Search.

3-26-03

    Today, I was working on my I-Search Notes and I didn't really have much written in it because we had a very long lesson.  I also needed help on finding Internet Sources.  After I learned how to find the Internet Sources, I wrote in my I-Search Journal.  That's what I did today when I was at the library.  I hope on my next visit, I can write more on my I-Search Notes.

    Today, I was working on my I-Search Notes and I didn't find any internet sources.  I tried many different sites, but I can't find any.  I am planning on finding internet sources in the library and other places that can help me find what I need.  I am also finding more notes for my I-Search Notes.

    Today, I was working on my I-Search Notes and I finally found some internet sources and some pictures.  At first when I was working on my I-Search, I got sort of fustrated because I can't find the the site when I pasted it on my I-Search.  I tried to find information for my I-Search about tarantula nests, but the computer can't find the site.  Well, at least I got some pictures and internet sources.

    Today, I was working on my I-Search Notes and I was finding notes for my I-Search.  I also worked on a new story called I-Search Bibliography.  I was finding print souces for my Bibliography.  I'm still not finished with my Bibliography, but I will be finished pretty soon.

    Today, I was working on my I-Search Notes and I found more notes for my I-Search.  I collected more pictures for my I-Search and saw some very interesting and disgusting pictures.  I'm still not done with my I-Search Notes, but I will be done pretty soon.  Today, the server went down and I had to wait a few minutes for it to work properly.  I hope I'll be done sooner or later.

     Today, I was working on my I-Search and I was trying to find people that I can interview.  I'm thinking of interviewing Ms.Carol's classmate, Melissa.

     Today, I decided to change to another topic and work on it.  I don't really want to do my I-Search on spiders any more because I can't find much information on it and it is sort of boring too.  Now, I am dojng my I-Search on cocaine and crack.

    Today, I was working on my I-Search Notes and the server wasn't working.  I got really fustrated because I tried many times to refresh, but the server still wouldn't work.  I also couldn't find much notes and bibliographies for my I-Search.  Hope I could finish it sooner or later.

     Today, i changed my i-search topic again.  now, i decided to do my i-search on marine animals.  i thought cocaine and crack was a boring topic.  i am planning to go to the exploratorium and ask someone about my topic and get more information on it.

   Today, I was working on my new I-Search topic.  I can't find questions to ask, so I got fustrated, but now, I found some already.  It took me a while to find quesyions to ask about.  I am planning on not changing to another topic and stick to this one.  I changed the name of my topic which is now, Marine Animals-Dolphins.  I thought that  working on whales and dolphins are to tough for me, so I picked just dolphins. This topic is very interesting to me because I thought that dolphins are very interesting and smart marine animals. I hope I will finish soon because I am sort of behind on the I-Search.

    Today,I was working on my I-Search and I didn't get much done.  I worked on my I-Search report.  I already finished most of it.  The only thing that I need is to finish my Introduction in my I-Search Report.

   Today, I was working on my I-Seach Report and I was trying to think of what to write on my Introduction, but I didn't know what to write.  Anyways, I am thinking of finishing it and I changed my I-Search on whales.

    Today, I was working on my I-Search and I did a lot of the read and retell for my notes.  I got most of my work done.  I found some internet sources.  I am almost finished with my I-Search.  I hope I'll finish before time runs out.

  Today, I am nearly done with my I-Search.  I just have a little more to go.  I will be done pretty soon.  I'm done with all the notes already.  I think I'll be done on my next visit.

   Today, I was working on my I-Search and I have finally finished it!  I thought that I wasn't going to finish it.  I'm finished with my notes, and all the other things that I had to finish.  I'm glad that I finished it before the due date.  I hope I can get an A on it.

  Today, I was working on my bibliography because I wasn't finished with it.  Now, I am finally starting on my revision conference.  I hope I can get a good grade on my I-Search Report.  I hope I'll be finished with my revision coference tomorrow or some othere day.

   Today, I was working on my I-Search.  I finished the things that I needed to finish and I corrected the things that I needed to correct.  I hope I get an A.

    Today, I was working on my I-Search and I created another story called I-Search Survey.  I had to answer some questions about the I-Search.  I am already finished with my I-Search Report and I hope to get an A on it.
