*Flash!*  There goes something flying by. Oh my, that was a meteor. Don't you ever wonder what it is, where it came from or how it formed? Well that's what I'm here for. I'm going to tell you all you need to know about meteors.

What are meteors made of?

A meteor is a bright streak of light in the sky ("shooting star") produced by the entry of a small meteoroid into the Earth's atmosphere. Meteoriods are bits of the solar system that have fallen to the Earth. Most come from asteriods and a few come from comets.Some meteors are made of iron and some are made of stone. There are many type of meteorites such as Iron, Stony Iron, Chondrite, Carbonaceous Chondrite, and Achondrite. Some meteors are made of iron and some are made of stone.

 

 

 

What makes meteors so visible at night?

More meteors are visible after midnight because the earth's rotation has positioned the observer's part of the earth in the direction of the earth's motion about the sun. Also, when the meteors enter the Earth's atmosphere, meteors are heated up to about 300ºF, and they can glow.(They are heated by the pressure.)

How fast do meteors travel?

The average meteoroid enters the atmosphere at between 10 and 70 km/sec. All but the largest meteoriods decelerated to a few hundred km/hour.  When their speed increases they can be seen as "shooting stars."

 

 

About how many meteors enter the Earth's atmosphere?

A very large number of meteoriods enter the Earth's atmosphere each day. Almost more than one hundred tons material enter the Earth's amosphere. But they are really small, only a few milligrams each. Only the largest ones will fall to the surface because the smaller ones disintegrate.

What is the brightness of a meteor called?

The duration and brightness of a meteor is called a fireball. A fireball can break into pieces and damage and destroy things. For example, one of them destroyed over 770 sq. mi. of forest in Tunguska, Siberia in 1908. A meteroid is made of stone, iron, or a mix of stone and iron.

Conclusion

I've been  doing some research on meteors. I didn't really know much about  this topic and now I do because the I-Search project helped me. I think it was an okay process because the I search project took a lot of time and hard work but it was also fun and interesting.I have leared many things about meteors such as, their size, what they are made of, and many more. Now after learning aboit meteors, it makes me want to go out and search for one in the cold, dark sky.

Today I went to the SFPL database site and looked up shooting stars. It didn't really have information on shooting stars and iot only gave me meteors so i decided that would be my new topic. It was fun looking around for the very first time.

Today I went to the SFPL database site again and it pretty much gave me the same info as Friday so I went to another site. I went to the SFPL site and it was really confusing trying to look for info about meteors. So then I went to Yahoo and searched for meteors. It gave me a lot of choices to choose from and it also gave me a lot of information and pictures,what a surprise...haha. I think yahoo was pretty cool and interesting. =)

Today i went to go look for some more information on meteors. So i decided to go to SFPL databases again. I saw this article and it was a little challenging and i copied and pasted it into my I search notes. Now i have 2 articles on my I-Search notes and they are really long!

Today i went SFPL databases again and they pretty much gave me the same info on meteors so i went to Yahoo, MSN, amd Google to search for more articles. They gave me so much infomation. I was really happy. =) I copied and pasted more articles into my I-Search notes and right now i think i have more than 3 or 4 articles. I also have some pictures of meteors(shooting stars.)

Today my partner was jazminn. In the beginning i was a little confused because i didn't know what she was talking about when ms turnbull said "article." But then my friends told me. Jazminn and I both read each others articles and we summarized each paragraph. We didn't get to finish our whole article but we got some done.So thats pretty much what we did today.

Today, uMmM..i finished reading 1 of my articles and i put it in my own words, in other words paraphrazing. I think i summarized 2 or 3 more paragraphs today and that about it. Oh yeah, I also read Lily and Helens topic or article. It was really fun and their topics were really interesting. We gave each otah ideas .

Today I worked on my I-Search notes and i did some more editing. Jazminn and Lily helped me today on my notes because i didn't understand some things. Jazminn helped m e with the summarizing and Lily helped me when i didn't know a challenging word. Today i finished about 3 or 4 paragraphs and thats about it.

Today Jazminn and Lily helped me do some more editing on my articles. I had a few more paragraphs today and i finished it! YaY! Now I'm finished with both articles and I'm finished with everything!

Today i worked on my checklist and it was kind of fun. =) Also Lily helped me a little because in the beginning i didn't really understand it.So thats about it for today.

Today i went to look at some more article son the SFPL databases but i only found the same infomation so I just kept looking at to see if i could find anything new but i didn't. =( Well that's all I really did today so bye.

Today i went to the SFPL site again to do somehting new and i went to the electronic resources and I got my library card and typed in the barcode. After i got the hang of that i went to yahoo and searched for more articles on meteors. It was kind of hard finding the articles because of the server but i had patience and i got 1 article! I copied and pasted it to my I search notes and thats about it for today... =)

We actually did some more reseaching on our topics today. I didn't really find much because my computer kept burping(wouldn't refresh) but that's ok. I went to the SFPL electronic resources but didn't find anything. I will try to find more tomorrow.

Today I couldn't find any articles. Ms Turnbull went to everywun and check their checklist, journal, notes and their 5 topic questions. Oh yeah, I got a check + on all ov them. =) hehe...

Well today I did some more research on meteors. I didn't really find anything because i looked at many of those already so thats what i mostly did today...okz...

Today i didn't really do anything because the computer was so so so so slow! Oh my gosh, i only found one info thingy for my bibliograohy because lik ei told you the computer was really slow so yeah i couldn't really do anything but if i come back tomorrow I'm sure that i will finish so ok...uMm..i got to go now cause it's tine to go.

Well nothing much really happened today in with the I search project. Some people did some catching up wiht their work and I added some more information in my bibliography. Lily kind of helped me today because i couldn't really find the creater of this site and i asked her for help. That about it for today.

Today we did something different on our I search thingy. Ms turnbull gave us some questions to answer about the interview for our topics and i chose Ms.wilder and some other science teachers if she is not avaliable. I almost finished answering my questions but i only have 1 more to answer so yeah. I gtg.

Spring break is over and it's back to school. Today Ms turnbull gave us a new assignment and it was to write some interview questions tah ask your intervee. I think that's how you spell it. Well i couln't really thjnk of a lot of question today becuase our class time is kind of short. I only made about 4 questions but i am sure i will think of more at home.Okz.gtg..

Today i didnt really do much. Ms turnbull told us about this bibliography thingy. I was suprised because a bibliography isn't called a bibliography. It is called work cites or cited. I also added more interview question. I had 5 and now i made up 3 or 4 more. =)

Today i created an i search report and I put the story map in it. For the 4 IQ's i replace it with mines. Since we have testing today i didn't have much time to write paragraph to answer my iq's. We only have about 30 minutes of class time to do our i search and ms turnbull just told us that our i search will be due around the end of May. So that's about all I did today.

Today i worked on my i search again and i started on my introduction but i still think i should add i little more because it is kind of short in a way. After i did my introduction I answered like 2 of my IQ questions using my notes. I only ansered about 2 questions because I couldn't really find the answers to the other questions. So i guess i will have to find some more notes or get the answers when i interview Ms. Wilder if I have any time to.

Today i just did some catching up work because it was interin taday. Well this is my second time writing my journal entry today because i accidently deleted the first one, but that's ok because i like wrinting in my jounal.=) Well i just answered about like 2 more interview questions today and yeah that's about it.

Today i was working on my i search report and i found some more answers for my 5 iq's but i think i need more information on them because it is kind of short answers. I also tried to find some more infomation on my bibliography but i couldn't. Maybe i will check tomorrow. I still need to contact Ms wilder fdor the interview before she goes camping with the 7th graders.

Today i just answered my fifth IQ in my report. All i need to do is add in my bibliography and my Journal link to my report. I couldn't do my revision conferrence today because Helen went on a feild trip with ms. wilder. I don't think i am goin to interview    ms. wilder because next week she is going camping with the 7th graders and i think she will be busy and I am not sure when the i search report is going to be due.Okz..that's what I did today bye.

Today I didn't really do much but I did some more work on my i search report. I made a journal link and a bibliography link to my report. All i got to do is do a revision conference with Helen and I have to find a little more information for my IQ's because my report is kind of short. Well since I don't have anymore time to work on the i search now...I am going to wrok on it when i get home on my computer. Ok bye.

T oday i added i little more information on my iq's but i dtill neecd more. I think i am going to work on it when i get home today because the computers here at school are kind of slow. After I finish adding more info then i am going to do a revision conference with Helen tomorrow if i have time. Ok i think i said enough for today. Bye!

Well the I search project is almost over anf we only have til this Friday becauase it is going to be over. =(
Well i am almost finished with my i search. All i have to do is tell Helen to answer my question in my revision conference and then i have to tell ms turnbull to proof read my report. Okz..bye.
