Mystical Fish Like Creatures 

In the ocean there is a fish like creature, but they are not fish at all. They are called dolphins. We had to do a I-search and I was like ahh i didn't know what to do it on.. and i thought i would do it on an animal and snice i didnt know much about dolphins.. it became my topic. They are a very interesting topic to learn about and you would be surprised of all the things about dolphins. You should read this if you really want to know more about dolphins.

How do they live under water? Dolphins don't have gills so dolphins breathe air through their dorsal bowhole.They could stay underwater for 15 minutes.When they sleep they sleep below the surface of the water and coming up for air every 3 or 4 minutes. Bottlenose dolphins do have sharp teeth but most dolphins only eat fishs or squids. They use their tail to help them hunt. They can also find fishes by their clicking sound. They can hear the echoes of fishes and see how far they are.

How big can dolphins get? The baby dolphins are about 97cm feet long and weighes about 30 pounds and most common dolphins can grow up to around 8 feet legth and about 165 pounds.They are called calfs. The mother than stays for a year or so. The tail of the baby calf comes out first after 12 months.

Why do they have fins and tails? Scientists tell dolphins apart by their dorsal fins. They use their dorsal fin to steer. They also have fins on their tails. Dolphins use their tail to move up and down to move around in the water and also for hunting fish to eat. The dolphin's tail fluke isn't up and down like a fish or shark's. When they swim they use there tail fluke pushing it up and down to help them dive or leap out of the water. They tail fluke can also help them hunt.

How does a dolphin have babies and how long? Dolphins usually get inpregnated in spring. The newborn babycalf is about 97cm feet long and weighes about 30 pounds and can grow up to about 4 meters long and weigh up to 1,400 pounds. Having twins is very rare for dolphins. Most dolphins are born tail first, then the head comes out. they ususally live up to about 40years.

Why do people say they are smart? People think they are smart because their brian is twice as big as a human brian. They live together in pods. They talk to each other by making squeaks and whistles and by touching each other. People think they are smart because they can learn to do tricks and stuff in the zoo.

Conclusion  Dolphins are very strange cretures of the sea. I learned that they could have twins just like humans and they are born tail first insted of like humans they could come out both ways and they have a time where they have babies. They do not have gills so they need to come out of the water to breathe air once in a while. Their brain are twice as big as a humans brian and that is why sciencists think they are smart. This wasn't the greatest thing to do, but it led me to learn more about dolphins and how these creatures lived and survive.

2/25/03 Today i want to SFPL site and looked for print scores so that i can use. I found some things i could use.

2/27/03 Today i want to SFPL databases to find articles on cars. I couldn't find any on cars yet.

3/6/03 Today i changed my topic because cars were too hard and i picked dolphins instead. I looked for some articles. I found three articles on it.

3/7/03 Today i want into my I-search notes and looked at my articles. I read them and minimized the screen and tryed to remember all the stuff i could about the paragraph and i typed it onto it. I did about 5 paragraph.

3/10/03 Today I helped Frank with his article and we did the Read-Pause-Retell thing. He read it and i closed the window and he told me what happen in the paragraph and wrote it in his blog. Then he help me with mines and i read it and he minizined the window and i told him what happen and i wrote it down on my blog.

3/11/03 Today i did the Read-Pause-Retell thing by myself. I read the paragraph and then i scrolled the screen down so i couldn't see the paragraph anymore and i typed what i remembered about the paragraphs. If i didn't remember a lot i went back and read it again and did it over again and again until i got enough information on the paragraph.

3/13/03 Today I read the headline for today and i followed the things it told me to do. I made a new story I-Search Checklist. Then i copyed the Checklist onto my story and wrote done what i have done and finshed with and left the stuff alone that i didn't get to yet.

3/14/03 Today I went into my stuff and i went to my notes and i read my second article and read-puase-retell the paragraphs and scroll the window down and wrote down what i remembered about the paragraph.

3/25/03 Today I went to look for sites on dolphins. I found 2 sites. I copyed the URL into my notes. Then I went the sites again and copyed and paste the text into my notes. Then i Read-Puase-Retelled the first paragraph.

3/27/03 Today i went to google.com to find some more internet sources but couldn.t find any good ones. I updated my checklist on the stuff that i already did and what i am done with. I finsed my notes for the internet sources i found the other day.

4/4/03 Today i went to yahoo.com and found my 5th and final RESCORCE! Then i copy and pasted the information in my notes then i read the stuff i found and did read-puase-retell on my own. then i posted my changes.'

4/7/03 Today i want to the links i found and looked for the person who made the link but i couldn't find anything and i didn't do anything else for today and i asked u for help.

4/8/03 Today i went to look for who was the host of the site again and i found it. I had to go all the way back to where it came from to find it. It was some school thing. Then i put it in my bibliography and post my changes.

4/9/03 Today i copyed and paste the questions you asked me. Then I answered the questions the best I could. After that i posted changes and then i was done.

4/23/03 Today I went to read what i am surpose to do and i read it. I made a new story titled " I-Search Interview Questions" then i copyed and paste my old questions. Then i remembered I didn't finsh my notes and i had about 2 paragraphs left. I went to it and finshed it.

4/24/03 Today I went to ms turnbull's page thing and read the bibliograhy. Then I asked u what to do because i was done with all my notes and stuff. You told me to make a story name I-Search Interview Report and i answered some of my questions and thought about other questions I could ask.

5/6/03 Today i went to the headline and read the stuff in it and followed the instructions. I went to create a new story named I-Search Introduction then went into it and wrote a introduction of my I-Search. I then copyed and pasted it onto my I-Search Report. Then i answered some of my questions.

5/15/03 Todau i went to the headline and followed what was in it and then i went to creat story and named it I-Search Revision. Then i went to my I-Search Report and answered my questions some more. I got some more answers on each of my 5 questions besides one....

5/16/03 Today I went to the headline and read it. Then i went to my report and notes to find more answers to my questions. I got about a paragraph for each of my questions. Now i am working on my bilography.

5/19/03 Today i went to my bibliography and started to work on it.I wasn't sure what to do so i went into the old headlines and from the one about bibliography. I was still kind of confused so i asked you and u explained it a little. I got some done.

5/20/03 Today i went to my bibliography then i got some more done on it but then it stoped loading so that was all i got done today. I got a little confused and didn't know what to put but i got some of it done still... I couldn't find who was the author or the person who made the site..

5/21/03 Umm yestherday i did the revision conference at home.. Now im making the changes and stuff.... And I finshed my biblography.. Now im done and ready for a proofread..
